MICAELA HOO (right) Micaela is a lifelong sufferer of autoimmune disorders. In 2014, she was diagnosed with leaky gut caused by what was suspected to be Celiac disease (the body's inability to process gluten), but ended up being dysbiosis (an imbalance between the good and bad bacteria in the gut) which forced her to reevaluate her choices of food and skincare products. Soon thereafter, she started homemaking body butters—now known as Drifter Organics—with her mother, Dawn Marie Hoo. Shifting to a plant-based diet and using homemade skincare products cleared up Micaela’s skin and digestive issues and changed her entire outlook on life. Micaela’s mission is to prove you can live a holistic life without sacrificing style. She is also the founder of popular fashion and lifestyle blog, ohmydrifter.com.
DAWN MARIE HOO (left) Dawn Marie has no known allergies or health issues. She’s also never broken a bone, sprained an ankle or had chickenpox, mumps, measles, rubella, or whooping cough. However, Dawn Marie still wants to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The determination to heal Micaela’s gut took their awareness of healthy food and skincare choices to the next level. Unsatisfied with the “high quality, dermatologist recommended” skincare products on the market, Micaela and Dawn Marie started homemaking body butters together. And so Drifter Organics was born.

We like bright colors, bold patterns, and a whole lot of irreverence and quirk. We're mindful, but we thrive on the energy of the city. We also love puns and guessing each other's emoji sentences. You don't need to live in a cabin in the woods to live a truly natural and holistic life. The Drifter Organics girl is smart, driven, witty, simple, and young at heart.
